Aktive x One NZ

Volunteers are the heartbeat of sports and recreation across New Zealand, generously giving their time and energy to help thousands of clubs and groups, and the people within them, to thrive. 

In Auckland alone, there are more than 300,000 volunteers helping make community sport and recreation possible. By sharing their knowledge, and skills – whether on the playing fields or behind the scenes – these volunteers are helping to create a happier, healthier Tāmaki Makaurau. 

Aktive and One New Zealand have worked together to celebrate volunteers through the ‘Faces of Sport & Recreation in Auckland’ campaign, a two-part series profiling some of the many awesome volunteers who make sport and recreation possible. 

Chapter & Verse supported this campaign over both phases (in 2022 and 2023), using storytelling to create compelling written content to highlight the journeys of a wide range of volunteers. The ‘faces’ campaign was recognised as a finalist in the commercial partnership category of the 2023 NZ Sport and Recreation Awards.
